(CMR) In an effort to boost confidence in the COVID-19 vaccine, US President-elect Joe Biden received the jab on Monday (December 21).
Biden's inoculation was televised for all to see at a hospital close to his home in Delaware.
The President-elect received the first of two doses of the Pfizer vaccine following which he spoke to media personnel.
“I’m doing this to demonstrate that people should be prepared when it’s available to take the vaccine. There’s nothing to worry about,” Biden said
Biden told his audience that while they waited to get the vaccine they should keep wearing masks and “listening to the experts.”
The president-elect further noted that the Trump administration “deserves some credit” for getting the vaccine and distribution off the ground at such a fast pace but stressed the need for individuals to continue to take precautions, particularly in light of the upcoming holidays.
So far several high profile politicians have taken the jab including : Vice President Mike Pence, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, as well as, former Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton.
However, US President Donald Trump has not yet gotten the vaccine, citing that he believes he has natural immunity, as he had already recovered from a bout of coronavirus.
