(CMR) A makeshift vessel, with twelve migrants aboard arrived on Little Cayman on Sunday (December 6).
The Cayman Islands Customs and Border Control (CBC) confirmed the incident in a release on Monday noting that all aboard appeared to be in good health and were transported to a state-run quarantine facility.
Reports are that the vessel, which appeared to be “powered by sail”, had ten males and two females, onboard; with one of the male migrant having said to have been in the Cayman Islands before in 2016.
Upon reaching land in Little Cayman, the Cuban migrants indicated they had been at sea for some five days.
The migrants were taken to Cayman Brac, where they were tested for COVID-19 and placed in mandatory quarantine in a Government facility.
