(CMR) In a rather bizarre move Speaker of the House, McKeeva Bush refused to come out of the Kirk Building yesterday after his sentencing hearing broke for lunch. The hearing was in courtroom five on the second floor.
His legal team exited the building before him and Bush, who wore his mask during the entire proceeding came down to the lobby area from the second floor and proceeded to the door. However, on observing media standing outside waiting for him he refused to exit the building. Both CMR and Cayman Compass were at the entranceway waiting to photograph Bush.
Compass also had a videographer in addition to their journalist who was also filming. Seeing this, Bush refused to exit the building and called for additional security to assist him. Some officers from the main courthouse building came over to Kirk House.
There was a flurry of activity as the media attempted to figure out how Bush would be leaving for lunch. His legal team left the premises after being picked up by a driver. For his part, the Speaker of the LA remained in the building. Sources later indicated that Bush went back upstairs where he ordered in lunch.
Bush was in court for a sentencing hearing after he decided to plead guilty to several common assault charges from a February incident.
