(CMR) YouTube is experiencing a worldwide outage tonight that makes it impossible to play videos on the world's most popular video platform. Reports are that YouTube TV premium streaming service and YouTube Music is also impacted.
This is the second time in 2020 that the Google service has had a major outage. Whilst the main website loads the actual videos do not.
DownDetector is also showing a truly tremendous number of user reports of problems with YouTube, indicating the problem is widespread — the DownDetector graph peaked with more than 278,000 user reports in less than an hour. Numerous users on Twitter are reporting that YouTube isn’t working for them, either, and searches are spiking for “is YouTube down.”
YouTube posted on their Twitter account about the outage:
“If you're having trouble watching videos on YouTube right now, you’re not alone – our team is aware of the issue and working on a fix. We’ll follow up here with any updates,”
said the company in a tweet.
YouTube said it was currently working on a fix, noting that it would inform users of any further development on its social media platforms.
