(CMR) Caribbean Utilities Company Ltd. (CUC) is working to restore power to some affected areas across Grand Cayman that are currently without power due to high winds and heavy rains from Tropical Storm Eta. Over 11,000 customers are said to be without electricity.
They have advised that at least five utility poles are down in the Savannah/Red Bay areas. They have crews are currently on location and will start repair as soon as the winds and rain abate and it is safe to start the work.
Deputy Governor Franz Manderson issued the following message earlier this afternoon:
CUC sincerely apologizes for the inconvenience caused to customers because of these outages and ask that you remain patient as they work to restore power in a safe and efficient manner.
