(CMR) The police have confirmed that Raymond Scott was arrested on Monday, October 12 on suspicion of careless driving in the accident that has left a Brac woman in critical condition in the hospital. The family has expressed concerns about the pace of the ongoing investigation.
Reports are that Scott's blue Toyota Jeep hit the female pedestrian on the Monday morning requiring her to be airlifted to the Grand Cayman later that afternoon for further treatment. She sustained serious life-threatening injuries as a result of the incident.
Exclusive sources indicate that two weeks after her condition continues to be very grave as she remains in a coma and may have suffered brain damage. She was walking that morning and sustained head injuries with bruising on the left side of her brain. She also suffered a fractured pelvic injury and remains on a ventilator. There were signs that she regained some minimal consciousness but there is little update on the long time prognosis. She was removed from sedation as they continue to monitor her brain function.
Her family members have expressed concerns about a possible cover-up because she is an employee of local political Moses Kirkconnell. However, the police have assured us that the matter is being handled professionally with no political interference. Persons convinced that she may have been targeted may just be hyper-sensitive one source shared. CMR understands that she has a young son and adult daughter that have been particularly traumatized by the event and her subsequent hospitalization.
Despite the Cayman Brac police allegedly telling her family that he has not been arrested the Commissioner of Police assured CMR that he was arrested on the day of the incident and released without charges pending the outcome of the investigation. An RCIPS accident reconstruction team traveled to Cayman Brac on the same day of the incident to assist with the investigations. CCTV footage has been canvassed and investigations are ongoing. He has assured us that a police liaison officer remains in contact with the family.
