(CMR) Despite original projections that Tropical Cyclone Epsilon would affect the Western Caribbean, the cyclone instead formed over the North Atlantic.
Given the location of the storm's formation, Epsilon no longer poses a threat to the western Caribbean.
The latest information from the National Hurricane Centre (NHC) notes that the system is stationary about 1,240 kilometres southeast of Bermuda.
A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for Bermuda, with heavy rains and winds expected to affect the island within 48 hours.
Satellite-derived wind data indicate that the maximum sustained winds have increased to near 60 mph (85 km/h) with higher gusts.
TS Epsilon is forecast to begin a slow northward motion tonight, strengthening and is expected to be at or near hurricane strength by Thursday.
