(CMR) A Jamaican politician died on Tuesday (October 20) after a three week long battle with COVID-19.
61-year-old councillor Irvin Brown died on the Intensive Care Unit at university hospital in Kingston, where he was receiving treatment for the deadly virus.
It is unclear if Brown had any comorbidities.
Following Brown's passing Member of Parliament for East Portland, Ann Marie Vaz, shared condolences for the Fellowship councillor noting that he leaves behind a legacy of excellence and dedicated service.
Jamaica on Tuesday recorded 53 new cases of the novel coronavirus and one virus related death in the last 24 hours.
The country's total confirmed COVID-19 cases now stand at 8,374, of which 4,085 are active.
