(CMR) St Lucia police on Monday (October 12) revealed that a Jamaican national had escaped from police lock-up.
On the run is 27-year-old Orville Pernel who was charged for murder and was in custody at the Babonneau Police Station.
Pernel is believed to have escaped from the station between the hours of 3am and 5am on Monday.
“Pernel was charged on Thursday, October 8, 2020, for causing the death of Cleus Alfred of Ravine Macock,” said Superintendent of Crime Management George Nicholas speaking at a press conference.
27-year-old Cleus Alfred was killed on August 25 in the northern town of Gros Islet ,his body was found along a roadside in a pool of blood.
“He had a bail hearing on Friday where he was remanded until November 11 this year,” added Nicholas.
The police have noted that anyone with information regarding Pernel’s whereabouts is asked to contact them but were told that they should not approach him as he could be armed and dangerous.
