UPDATE: Government has confirmed that a student at Red Bay Primary School has tested positive COVID-19 and is symptomatic. The government initially shared the child was hospitalized but that has since been corrected by them in a press release.
The child and their family are in isolation and the Public Health Department has begun the process of contact tracing.
As part of this process, the Public Health Department is attending Red Bay Primary School today to test the entire class, relevant staff and families. That process is expected to expand more widely, as full contact tracing continues.
Further results from Red Bay Primary are expected later today and will guide further decisions with respect to the school and the wider community.
Public Health will directly contact those who have come in contact with persons who may be potentially exposed. Persons who are concerned for their health and that of their families are reminded that they can make their own appointments for testing via the Health Services Authority website, www.hsa.ky.
CMR exclusive sources have indicated that the child has been in isolation for 7 days and tested positive yesterday. The entire Year 2 group will now be isolated at the school and testing will commence shortly. The testing order for students and parents is to be done by class starting with 2a then 2b then 2c.
Parents were feeling extremely anxious and many showed up despite receiving no call from the school. One shared:
“I haven't received a call from Red Bay Primary and now their phone line is not even ringing again”
There will be a press conference later this afternoon. CMR was live on location to obtain some details directly from the sources:

ORIGINAL STORY:
(CMR) Parents are telling CMR that they have received a phone call this morning from Red Bay Primary School secretary that a Year 2 student has tested positive for COVID-19 and they are to come immediately to collect their children.
The parents are panicking about what this means for them as they are all headed to the location to collect their students. We understand health officials are heading to the school this morning.
This is a breaking story and at this time we do not have any official confirmation of the circumstances.
