“Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!”
President Donald Trump Tweeted
(CMR) The President of the United States, Donald Trump and his wife are said to be COVID-19 positive after he tweeted the results to the public. The announcement came shortly after midnight on Friday morning.
The news comes after a tumultuous week and a disastrous presidential debate on Tuesday. What this means for the presidential campaign remains to be seen.
Questions were raised later Thursday night after the first couple made the unusual decision to quarantine after one of his senior advisors, 31-year-old Hope Hicks, tested positive. She traveled with him to the presidential debate in Ohio on Tuesday and accompanied him aboard Air Force One to Minessota for a campaign rally on Wednesday night.
Many felt that the president already knew the results of a rapid test which can be obtained in as little as 5 minutes and he had used previously. This was the first time that Trump had agreed to quarantine even after numerous people around him have had the virus.
