(CMR) The police have confirmed that three Jamaican nationals were apprehended on Thursday, September 24th around 3:50 a.m. on suspicion of illegal landing and various drug-related offenses after 42 packages of ganja were recovered in the early morning hours.
CMR first reported the incident shortly after 7:00 a.m. on Thursday morning when police were still on the scene collecting the packages.
Officers from the Air Operations Unit spotted the vessel in Cayman waters off North West Point Road, West Bay during their aerial patrol. The three men on board then began dumping their illegal cargo into the water. The Cayman Islands Coast Guard was informed of their location, responded and intercepted the vessel. The 44-year-old was also charged with Contravention of a Deportation Order. The men remain in custody and are expected to appear in Summary Court on Monday, 28 September.
