(CMR) Mariah Tibbetts will be crowned Miss Cayman Islands Universe 2020-21 Saturday evening at Grand Old House.
It was announced in mid-July that the annual pageant would be canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the 2019 first runner up would be selected to represent the Cayman Islands at the next Miss Universe Pageant.
The Miss Cayman Islands Universe Committee stated that they have received approval from the Miss Universe Organization to send the first runner-up of 2019 to this year’s Miss Universe Pageant under the current circumstances and they were pleased to announce that the gorgeous Mariah Tibbetts will represent the Cayman Islands at the prestigious pageant.
The 26-year-old is a certified public accountant from Bodden Town and is a proud member of 100 Women in Finance, NextGen Cayman. She is not new to pageantry as she has earlier participated at Miss Teen Cayman Islands 2011 where she was adjudged the first runner-up and later at Miss Universe Cayman Islands 2019 also, she was again adjudged as the first runner-up.
Mariah wishes to use her platform to raise awareness and help normalize the stigma around mental health. She is already associated with a foundation in the Cayman Islands where she along with her has been working hard to help people open up about mental illness. Though the Miss Universe organization has not yet announced the date for the pageant, it is expected to take place later this year.
