(CMR) Several earthquakes hit close to Cayman this morning including a 4.5 magnitude earthquake that occurred this morning around 8:00 a.m. with its epicenter closest to East End, Grand Cayman. The earthquake is said to have impacted the Cayman Islands and Jamaica given its location of 103 km ESE off East End at 19.083°N 80.156°W or 64.5 miles out to sea.
The earthquake was a dept of 10 km and could have caused body waves in the ocean and noticeable shaking of indoor objects.
An earlier earthquake of 4.9 magnitude had hit in a similar area. This one was slightly further away from Grand Cayman at 72 miles away.
