“This is disturbing to me. And these are the people profiting off of these lands. I’m not a practicing Christian nor do I tend church frequently but I believe in Jesus and prayer. I was raised by a Christian grandmother and went to Christian and Catholic schools. I found this upsetting. I found the need to share with you. I don’t know why. I guess I had to share with someone.
Disturbed Caymanian
(CMR) A video recently posted on Instagram showed CIREBA realtor Nicole “Nikki” Thomas of Engel & Volkers doing a house showing where she records herself putting a picture of Jesus face down. According to her the video was taken at a home right before a showing but appears to demonstrate a degree of religious insensitivity and ultimate unprofessionalism.
The video has caught the attention of some persons in the community who in turn shared it with CMR expressing their shock and displeasure at the audacity of the sales agent.
In the video she records herself preparing for a client viewing and putting the photo frame of Jesus face down and that is how the video concludes. Presumably, she did not want to see the photo nor wanted her clients too either. However, to record it and then share on the Instagram stories area of her professional real estate page called CaymanHome is what elevates her to the status of Jackass of the Day. During a time when we are asking the largely Christian community in the Cayman Islands to respect the views of others and exercise a degree of tolerenace with others who may not agree with all facets of their belief system it has to be recognized that acceptance is reciprocal and goes both ways!
According to her biography, Nikki returned to the island to start a “new adventure in her life and new career.” Described as “a residential sales and rental specialist, having helped her clients purchase and sell, millions of dollars’ worth of real estate in the Boston & Cayman markets since beginning her career in 2009”.
Ironically her professional bio also claims that shes “gives the best possible service whilst acting with the utmost integrity.”
