The new measures will see the islandwide curfew move from 11:00 pm to 9:00 pm and end 5:00 am daily, effective Thursday, August 27.
The new curfew measure will run until September 30.
The PM also announced new measures for communities in the corporate area, which had seen a “clustering of cases”.
“We are seeing a clustering of cases occurring in a number of communities within the corporate area, we have decided that we will take some additional measures for these communities,” said Holness.
Holness said these specific communities would be named shortly.
Holness appealed to all Jamaicans to take COVID-19 control measures seriously noting that it will reduce significantly the possibility of infection.
