Times are hard for everyone, but particularly hard in this area. I just wanted to help my community and give back in a meaningful way. Every child should have the benefit of having a great start to the school year with supplies!
Alric Lindsay, George Town South 2021 Candidate
(CMR) Alric Lindsay, a political candidate for George Town South, is hosting his second annual back to school drive to assist children in Windsor Park with school supplies tomorrow.
The event will be held at Windsor Park from 1:00 -7:00 p.m. or until supplies last.
Lindsay spent most of Saturday collecting a variety of items from local retailers to fill the backpacks with much-needed school supplies. The remainder of the day and evening was spent putting all the packages together to ensure that kids received backpacks, writing supplies, and notebooks.
The kits will be made available until all supplies are exhausted on Sunday. He reminded parents that supplies are not unlimited so he would invite them to bring kids early.
Lindsay also shared with CMR that he received a $5,000 donation to support the cause from PriceWaterhouseCoopers, his former employer that afforded him the opportunity to qualify as a certified public accountant.
He shared:
Partners Sean Parchment and Craig Smith approved the funding after seeing how I was helping across different communities. I also received $2,000 from a private donor who is also a partner in another accounting firm but prefers to remain anonymous. I am so grateful for their contributions as this is really a team effort.
He is hoping for good weather so that people will attend the outdoor distribution point.
