Foreign governments may implement restrictions with little notice, even in destinations that were previously low risk. If you choose to travel internationally, your trip may be severely disrupted, and it may be difficult to arrange travel back to the United States
The U.S. Department of State
(CMR) In an ironic twist, the U.S. Department of State has issued COVID-19 country-specific travel advisories that include the Cayman Islands on August 6. This announcement was made yesterday as Cayman decided that it would also extend keeping its borders closed for at least another month.
The irony of the advisories is the United States has over 4.9 million confirmed infections breaking new records almost daily. Much of the Caribbean has now decided to restrict Americans from entering their country because of the spike in imported cases. Despite this, they are still included in the travel lasted advisory.
The advisory has placed Cayman on Level 3 out of 4 levels which means that Americans should reconsider travel to these islands. It warns people that there may be travel restrictions in place as well as mandatory quarantining that could disrupt their travel plans or their ability to return to the United States.
The four-tier advisory scale includes:
Travel Advisory Levels
Level 1 – Exercise normal precautions
Level 2 – Exercise increased caution
Level 3 – Reconsider travel
Level 4 – Do not travel
The position in the U.S. continued to prove dire as they surpassed 160,000 deaths as of Friday. In the past nine days they reached 10,000 deaths. COVID-19 infections are rising in 20 U.S. states, according to a Reuters analysis, as the center of the outbreak shifts from sunbelt states such as California, Florida and Texas to the Midwest.
New models are projecting 300,000 Americans could die from COVID-19 by December 1 according to the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation researchers. Fauci has noted that test positivity upticks are a “predictor of trouble” – meanings things will get worse for them.
President Trump continues to provide information that is scientifically erroneous and goes against the information being supplied by his own advisors.
