(CMR) Scammers are behind an e-mail in circulation that warns of the coming of a second wave of COVID-19 and a pending lockdown of the Cayman Islands, said the Cayman Compass in a release on Thursday (July 23).
According to the Cayman Compass, the email in circulation did not originate with the newspaper company.
“The Compass wishes to let the public know that the information contained in the email is false and does not originate with the newspaper, ” said the Cayman Compass.
The popular publisher further advised that despite the company's logo being used in the e-mail, receivers should not open it.
The Cayman Compass noted that it had reported the matter to the RCIPS Financial Crime Unit.
