(CMR) Governor Martyn Roper said that there would be a second flight departing Grand Cayman to Manila, Philippines on July 28, 2020.
He made the announcement on his Facebook page late Wednesday (July 8) noting that the flight is open to members of the Filipino community only.
Roper further shared that a second flight to the destination on July 31 for students and their families would open for bookings come next week.
According to Roper another flight scheduled to depart Grand Cayman on August 28 would open for booking come the first week of August.
The Governor further noted that the Cayman Island Government was still in talks with the Sri Lankan, Nepalese and Nicaraguan Governments with regard to solutions for their nationals.
“We are working closely with the TravelTime team who lead on who can return to Cayman, isolation facilities and arrangements with Cayman Airways for all other flights, ” said Roper.
“This is a challenging process and an unprecedented situation. Team Cayman can be proud of what we have done to support those who wish to depart our Islands and to manage risks from those who return, ” added Roper.
Roper also used the occasion to thank those in isolation for their cooperation and patience.
