UPDATE: The deadline has been extended after CMR highlighted some complaints that people were not able to add attachments to the form. The deadline to complete registration is now Sunday, 7 June 2020 at 11:59 PM.
However, we have been advised that as of the publication of this story the Department of Tourism has been receiving 3 applications per minute.
(CMR) The deadline for Caymanian tourism industry workers who have been displaced by the COVID-19 pandemic will be tomorrow Sunday, May 31, 2020 at 11:59 pm.
The Ministry of District Administration, Tourism and Transport is acquiring the information on the Cayman Islands Tourism website but it appears many industry workers have not yet been made aware of the fact that they should be registered. With barely a day remaining for registration CMR is reminding all displaced parties in the tourism sector to fill out the online form.
Their website does not indicate how the information will be utilized; but it could be utilized to gather statistical information as well as serve as a means to assess the industry needs once Cayman begins the re-opening process. No firm date has been set for when that will occur as it is dependent on my external factors.
