(CMR) Roatan, Honduras now has its first confirmed case of COVID-19 after it was revealed tonight that a 32-year old man had the disease. The man is from the municipality of Santo Guardiola. The announcement came as the government confirmed that of the 715 new COVID-19 PCR test results available on Saturday, 266 were positive.
Until this point the Bay Islands (Islas de la Bahía) had been coronavirus free but concerns were mounting as people were known to be sneaking into the Bay Islands from the mainland. This brings the total number of infected persons in Honduras to 3,743.
The epicenter of the virus has been Cortes with 223 of the 266 confirmed for that area. Seven more persons have now died bringing the death toll to 174. 386 people are hospitalized, of which 23 are in serious condition, 21 in intensive care, and 342 stable.

In an about-face, some news media in Honduras are reporting today that there are NO positive cases of COVID-19 in the Bay Islands.
