(CMR) A Cameroonian pastor who claimed he could lay his hands on followers and heal them from the coronavirus has died.
Pastor Frankline Ndifor died on Saturday (May 16) just two weeks after he had been diagnosed with COVID-19.
Reports from local news publication revealed that the police had to use force to gain access to Ndifor's residence, as some of his followers had blocked the entrance in an attempted to resurrect him through prayer.
Congregants and others gathered outside his home again on Sunday, chanting that the pastor popularly referred to as “the prophet” was not dead, instead they claim he was having a spiritual retreat with God and will soon return.
One member of Kingship International Ministries Church said that Ndifor had been laying hands on the sick and had been curing them of COVID-19.
Apart from praying for COVID-19 patients, Ndifor was also reported to have donated buckets and soap to the poor to protect themselves from the coronavirus by washing their hands.
He also went out into Douala’s streets, a town in Cameroon’s coastal region, to distribute facemasks on April 20, that was the last time he was seen in public.
Ndifor who is a very popular church leader had also been a candidate in the central African country’s previous presidential election.
