(CMR) Medical officer in the Ministry of Health Samuel Williams- Rodriguez on Friday (May 8) confirmed one new case of the coronavirus bringing the island’s total to 81.
Williams -Rodriquez revealed that the latest case was as a result of a screening test of an individual with no symptoms, no travel history, and no contact with a patient known to have COVID-19.
The Medical Officer said that the public health department has started investigations into this case.
“We have 296 negative results so this trend of having a lot of negative results is continuing. We are very happy with this trend,” said Williams -Rodriquez.
However, William Rodriquez said that given the increased screenings, he anticipates receiving some positive results.
Eight individuals are symptomatic, 29 asymptomatic while 41 patients have recovered.
Williams Rodriguez further used the opportunity to note that school medical exams and the national vaccine program are delayed due to the coronavirus outbreak.
