(CMR) McKeeva Bush (65) has now been charged with the February 21st assault of a bar manager at Coral Beach on West Bay Road.
Police have confirmed that the standing speaker of the house was behaving disorderly and assaulted a staff member present at the location. The RCIPS conducted an investigation and the completed case file was submitted to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution for a legal ruling, where a decision was made for charges to be laid.
Today, Friday 24 April, the public figure was charged with three (3) counts of Common Assault and one (1) count of Disorderly Conduct under the Liquor License Law.
The incident created a firestorm in the Cayman Islands that saw a protest being held in the town as well as members of the opposition calling for his removal. Kenneth Bryan was removed from the opposition group after he decided that he was not willing to hold a vote of note confidence against Bush. All government members have remained relatively silent on the matter.
He appeared in court today and was bound over by the court to appear again on 15 May 2020.
