(CMR) In a tweet moments ago, Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr. Christopher Tufton, said that Jamaica had recorded a seventh death from the deadly coronavirus, COVID-19.
According to Tufton, a four-year-old died on Thursday (April 23) evening due to COVID-19 at the Cornwall Regional Hospital in Montego Bay, St James.
The 4-year-old is the youngest person to have died from the virus, the child brings the island's death toll to 7.
There are currently 255 patients in isolation and 88 persons are in quarantine in a government facility.
The National Surveillance Unit in the Ministry of Health & Wellness reported that in the last 48 hours, 14 additional samples have tested positive for COVID-19.
The latest additions bring the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Jamaica to 257.
