(CMR) According to a Jamaica Gleaner report, a teen who was allegedly sexually assaulted by three boys, prior to the shutdown of schools island-wide due to the coronavirus, is breathing a sigh of relief that she no longer has to physically attend school.
Despite being yanked out of classes on February 18, just after the incident occurred, the teen’s mom told the Jamaica Gleaner that her daughter is not looking forward to returning to the Clarendon based institution.
In an exclusive interview with the local news publication, the mother slammed the school’s officials for not taking immediate action.
“They wait until school over to call me, and it happened at lunchtime. I had to take her to the doctor …,” the mother told the Jamaica Gleaner.
Not even a rape kit was administered, the mother revealed, noting that she had to take her child to see the doctor herself, where she was able to obtain a medical certificate, which she brought to the school and the police.
The angry mother further revealed that even the police were slow in acting upon the report.
According to the Gleaner’s report, it is not the first time that such an incident is said to have occurred at the said institution, as some community members noted that the institution has in the past, covered up similar matters.
The school and the police have declined to comment on the incident.
