(CMR) The Director of Food & Beverage at the Ritz Carlton, Mario Spirto (44), has died after a single motor vehicle accident involving his black Ducati motorcycle just after 12:10 am today March 23, 2020.
Police reports indicate that police and other emergency services were dispatched by the 9-1-1 Communication Centre to Hurley Merren Blvd, located between the Red Bay and Chrissy Tomlinson roundabouts; where it was reported that a motorcycle was involved in a collision and the rider was found unresponsive.
Spirto was transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital by Emergency Medical Services, where he was pronounced dead by an attending doctor. Spirto who resides in George Town was traveling east on Hurley Merren Blvd when he lost control of his black Ducati motorcycle, causing the collision to occur. No other vehicles were involved in this collision.
The matter is under investigation by the Traffic and Roads Policing Unit. The eastbound lanes on Hurley Merren Blvd were closed as a result of the investigation, but have since been opened to the public.
Spirto worked at the Ritz for almost two years and previously lived and worked in The Maldives, Uganda, and Jamaica in the food and beverage management industry. His employers shared”

He is originally from Naples, Italy and is survived by his wife and young son.
