(CMR) Investigators from the Anti-Corruption Commission arrested an individual this morning in connection with an ongoing investigation and previous arrests made on 19 September 2018.
Responsible for investigating serious allegations of corruption the Investigators arrested the 43-year-old male, from the Bodden Town area, on suspicion of committing the following offenses:
- Breach of Trust – contrary to s.13 of the Anti-Corruption Law (2016 Revision); and
- Being Concerned in an Arrangement (Money Laundering) – contrary to s.134 of the Proceeds of Crime Law (2014 Revision).
He has been detained for questioning at the Prisoner Detention Centre (Fairbanks). The ACC shared that the investigation continues therefore no further details will be released at this time.
There is speculation on the marl road that this arrest is related to some financial impropriety at the Cayman Islands Turtle Centre. Last month they stated that they arrested three named persons including Mark Anthony Manderson formerly of the Cayman Islands Turtle Farm. This would now make the fourth arrest in this matter.
