(CMR) Charmine Moss (45) and Canova Watson (49) appeared in court this morning in Summary Court before Magistrate Foldats to have their football fraud case transmitted to Grand Court for trial.

Jointly accused with Jeffery Webb (55) they appeared represented by different attorneys. They are all accused of conspiring to defraud the Confederation of North, Central, and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) between January 2012 and 2014.

Moss appeared in the dock first with her attorney, Nicholas Dixey, indicating that he had requested the Crowne to consider changing the common law charge of conspiracy o a statutory one. However, the prosecution indicated she was willing to consider the matter but was not minded to change the offenses. However, Foldats noted that legally he is required to transmit the matter “forthright” so additional time to consider the matter could not be past the end of the day. After a quick consideration, she indicated the charges would proceed as is.

Moss was charged with the common law offense of conspiracy which Dixey submitted had a statutory equivalent. However, the DPP's office noted that the facts did not permit her to consider that option. The common-law offense was a Category A offense which means that it has to be sent to Grand Court for trial. Moss is charged with two Category A offenses and a third Category B offense of converting criminal property. The law requires in such cases that were there are a combination of Category A and B offenses they must follow the Category A offenses and be dealt with in Grand Court.

The parties are to appear in Grand Court on January 24 when they are expected to submit their pleas and bail was extended.
