(CMR) Police have confirmed that 12 persons were arrested during an early morning raid on Sunday at Caymanite Bar & Lounge located off Dorcy Drive, George Town shortly after 10:30 am.
CMR initially reported the raid as it was in progress and heard from reliable sources that the establishment is used as an illegal gambling house.
Police confirm that they executed a search warrant at a liquor license premise own and operated by James Moore from East End. Around $16,000 in cash was seized and eleven men and one woman were arrested on suspicion of unlawful gambling, possession of criminal property and other related offenses.
All 12 were subsequently released on police bail pending further investigations.
According to other news media Moore had pleaded guilty in 2017 to not paying his barmaids the mandated minimum wage.
