(CMR) Aduke Joseph-Cesar, Deputy Director – Rehabilitation, at Her Majesty's Cayman Islands Prison Service has been suspended as of today pending an internal investigation.
Exclusive sources indicate she returned from vacation this week and was suspended by Prison Director, Steven Barrett today.
Whilst the details are few we do understand that the matter relates to an allegation of insubordination to a senior member of staff.
Joseph-Cesar was previously fired as deputy director in November 2015. The long-serving public servant successfully fought and won a case against the home affairs ministry and returned to work in February 2017. The Grand Court found that she was unlawfully dismissed because government officials had not followed due process.
Joseph-Caesar was fired after she was accused of installing covert video and recording equipment in the office of another staff member, Nina White. White, a female manager and custody officer, was suspended for behaving inappropriately with inmates behind locked doors in the office. She later left the prison service after another work-related scandal.
