(CMR) A third head-on collision for the second consecutive night has residences in Cayman shocked.
This evenings three vehicular accident occurred this evening right after Watler's Estate on Shamrock Road in Bodden Town. CMR sources indicate three cars were involved with one person appearing to be severely intoxicated. Two vans and a small car collided.
Reports were that one person was trapped in the car and appeared to be seriously hurt and was transported to the hospital. There were two ambulances, two fire rescue and a slew of police cars at the scene.
An eyewitness shared that the driver responsible for the accident appeared to be heavily intoxicated despite telling officers at the scene he “only had five beers”. He was lead away in handcuffs.
The driver of the second car stated at the scene that he and the seriously injured man were driving towards BT when the white van, headed towards Town, came over to their side. It then hit the silver car and lost control then hit him and ended up in someone's front yard. No one was out in the yard at the time.
Traffic was being diverted through the back road on Calla Lilly Drive. A large crowd of bystanders gathered at the accident scene.
CMR understands there were two separate head-on collisions last night with the worse being on the main road by Country & Western.
