A single mother of three is pleading for some compassion from the person who took her wallet out of her car at Newport Avenue in George Town.
The woman reached out to Cayman Marl Road to ask for the public's assistance in getting her wallet and contents back. She is not only a single mother but the father of her children is deceased. She explained that he had the money set aside to pay her rent.
Unfortunately, it was left in her car after she spent several days in the hospital with her 2-month-old child; who was suffering from pneumonia. She neglected to lock her car door and realized when she was taking the baby back for a check-up yesterday morning that it was gone. They took the money out of the wallet and left the wallet in tack leaving behind her debit card and driver's license.
She shared with us:
I worked really hard to pay my bill and make sure that my children can have food and a roof over their heads. Now I am short by $350 on my rent. I am begging whoever took it to be please run the money.
I am really pleading they can bring back the money. I just got that from my workplace as an advance to complete my rent. That's why it was the only cash available in my wallet the rest is on my debit card. Right now we are low on food but at least my rent would have been covered.
Explaining her hardship further, she explained that she had returned early from maternity leave because she needs to get back to work to make money.
The matter has been reported to the police. Anyone who knows the whereabouts of the money can return it with no questions asked.
UPDATE: Cayman Marl Road readers banned together an,d made donations in various amounts to this mother so that she could cover what was stolen from her. The generosity of the viewers exceed the $350 that was taken with one person donating $400. The ordeal really touched many and now the mother is able to cover all of her rent and hopefully, have a little left over for food expenses.
She shared with us:
I really want to say a huge thank you to you and all the people who help donate part of the money for my rent it was a truly blessing thanks a million! God works in mysterious ways and you are a blessing Ms. Sandy. I am grateful to everyone.
