(CMR) Police are reporting that two separate robberies took place in the last two days in the district of West Bay.
The first incident occurred about 4:45 pm yesterday, 6 June, officers responded to a report of a robbery on Rosett Close, Mount Plesant in West Bay.
A woman had been walking when she was approached by a man who brandished a knife and demanded her handbag. The man fled into nearby bushes with the bag which contained cash and personal items. The woman was not injured in the incident, and the stolen bag, without cash, was later located nearby.
The suspect is described as being between 5’8” and 5’10” in height, of brown complexion, and was wearing a long-sleeved gray shirt, dark pants and had his face covered with a shirt.
Then this morning the 9-1-1 Communications Centre dispatched officers to a report of a robbery at an address off Birch Tree Hill Road, West Bay.
It was reported that, at about 2:00 am, a man had just left a residence at the location when he was physically assaulted by a group of males, causing him to collapse. The men then made off with a quantity of cash, bank cards, and personal items. Emergency services attended and treated the victim at the scene for minor injuries.
These matter is currently under police investigation and anyone with any information, or who may have seen anything suspicious in the area early this morning is asked to contact West Bay CID at 949-3999.
