(CMR) Roy Tamasa had pleaded guilty to causing the death of Dr. Valry Anetta Jones-Leslie Breakenridge (62) by careless driving after his taxi van killed her at the Owen Roberts International Airport on July 17, 2017.
The 70-year-old taxi driver accepted a plea agreement for careless driving after the DPP's office agreed to drop charged for causing death by dangerous driving.
He will appear in court on February 20, 2019 for sentencing. Cayman Marl Road reported earlier this year that her family has started a civil suit against the elderly taxi driver.
Jones-Leslie Breakenridge was a visiting OBGYN at the Health Services Authority at the time of her death. She graduated from medical school at University of West Indies, Mona in 1973 and obtained a doctorate in 1986 in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at UWI, Mona. She also worked as a senior consultant in the Ministry of Health in Jamaica. She was also an active member of the Lions Club International and 3rd Vice President, Lions Club of St. Andrew.
