(CMR) Cayman Marl Road received a tip yesterday afternoon that there was a drug bust the day before that involved five Caymanians who were intercepted on a boat. The police have now confirmed this information in a press release.
At about 3:30AM on Tuesday, 19 June, officers from the Joint Marine & Air Operations Units were conducting border patrols along South Sound when a vessel was spotted off-loading packages on the beach near Smith Barcadere. Assistance was requested from patrol officers who quickly attended and pursued several persons along the beach area. As a result a vessel, two vehicles, and a significant quantity of drugs were seized.
In addition, 5 males, age 29 of West Bay, 25 of Bodden Town, and 15, 25 and 30 of George Town, were arrested on suspicion of importation of ganja. They remain in custody as investigations continue.
