(CMR) 64-year-old, Hermine Stoney, made her first court appearance today before Magistrate Foldats after being charged last week with offenses relating to the Needs Assessment Unit.
Police had confirmed that she has been charged with providing false information to a public officer and obtaining property by deception. It is alleged that she defrauded NAU of more than CI$30,000 in financial assistance from 2014 to 2017.
Many will remember her as the face of local electricity company Caribbean Utilities Company where she worked as a receptionist for many years. According to public records she was a given an insurance license in July 2011.
She was instructed to apply for legal aid and begin the process of finding an attorney to represent her.
