There is currently a sit-in boycott occurring at the East End Primary school. Our exclusive sources have informed us the teacher was suspended for allegations regarding inappropriate contact with a child.
We understand the issue stems from the year 5 students not having a school teacher for almost a month now. Our sources inform us that the parents had enough and decide to stage a protest.
Parents also decided to not send their children in school uniforms. The gate was locked by unknown sources and the kids can be seen sitting with parents.
Ms Bell, Senior School Improvement Officer and Ms Monteith, Director of Education Services, is in the scene now. The offered for Ms. Bell to teach the class but many parents found this unsatisfactory and are leaving with their children.
Sources indicate that this is now the second time that this particular group of students have had to endure having no teacher. Apparently several years ago the same thing happened for about a period of some eight weeks. It is our understanding that government has an issue retaining substitute teachers.
Ironic that the minister of education was the only government minister who made no debate contribution to the budget.
This is a developing story and we will update as more information becomes available.
