Alma McKenzie, senior tourism training and development officer for the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism (DoT), has retired after 27 years of service.
Over the years her work focused on the development of youth and infusion of tourism education into schools’ curriculums.
To celebrate the occasion, a luncheon was recently held in her honour.
Government officials joined in congratulating McKenzie, including Deputy Governor Franz Manderson; David Wight, Councillor for the Ministry of Tourism; Stran Bodden, Chief Officer in the ministry; and Rosa Harris, Director of Tourism, along with DoT management and staff…
At this year’s National Heroes Day celebration, McKenzie received an early pioneer of tourism award. She has worked with many Caymanians in the education system and the broader tourism industry through her work at DoT and supported their pursuit of tourism careers.
