FLOW MD, Victor Salgado, GONE!

Cayman Marl Road can exclusively confirm that FLOW's managing director is no longer employed with the company as of today.

Early this morning CMR received unofficial word that this would be Salgado's last day at the helm of FLOW's Cayman operations.

He was acting in the post since May 2016 and confirmed in December. Salgado joined Cable & Wireless in 2013 but the firm said that he has more than twenty years of leadership experience in the telecoms industry, having worked around the region for Ericsson and Digicel before joining LIME, which was later re-branded as Flow.

Now, less than 10 months later he is leaving the company. An email from Flow’s Caribbean President Garfield Sinclair was addressed to all Cayman employees indicating that Daniel Tathum would be interim country manager. In a strange twist the company has seen numerous persons made redundant in the past several years. CMR understands that many remaining staff members are extremely unhappy. Several present and past staff members describe Salgado as being difficult to work for and that there were numerous complaints to the regional head office about him.

In March of this year at least 10 persons were let go from the company who claimed in a statement that they were undergoing a “company-wide strategic transformation.”

FLOW has been under some scrutiny in the past for employing persons without the proper work authorization. It was during these ICTA investigations back in May 2016 into the telecommunications provider that Salgado was appointed acting CEO.

The ICTA had discovered some irregularities over at Cable and Wireless Cayman Islands, which is the parent company of Flow. There were concerns over the legal status of staff to be working in the Cayman Islands.

Flow is now owned by Liberty Global through LiLAC Group. Liberty acquired Cable & Wireless Communications Plc, the parent company, for US$8.2 billion.
