Opposition MLA's Anthony Eden, Chris Saunders, and Alva Suckoo have joined together to ensure that 61 children will have playground equipment at Savannah Primary school's reception classes.
Early last week these three MLAs made a generous donation of several pieces of playground equipment including two boats and a crawl through caterpillar to the youngest children in primary school.
The MLAs are hopeful that the government will secure the area with some grass for the children to play on.
In 2012 the Reception classes were rolled out to Sir John A Cumber Primary, Bodden Town Primary, and Savannah Primary Schools. The roll-out of Reception in these schools as part of the Government’s plan to reintroduce Reception to the government service, in a phased approach, as resources allow. George Town Primary’s Reception class was piloted in 2010. over 200 more Caymanian children gained access to Reception classes – a year of free, quality pre-primary education before moving into Year 1.
All opposition MLAs have been visiting the various schools for the past several weeks. Suckoo stated that they are making education their top priority and also preparing for the finance committee but ensuring that they have first-hand knowledge of what each school needs.
