Following a Cayman Marl Road exclusive expose published last week Cory Martinson, the Cayman Islands’ acting deputy information commissioner, pleaded guilty in Summary Court on Tuesday to disorderly conduct and causing damage to property, in this case a government vehicle.
The details of the matter are that Martinson used indecent language to an on duty police officer and caused over $500 in damage to the police car during an incident at public beach in December 2016.
Martinson still has other charges outstanding but CMR understands in one instance he has paid the owner of the establishment for damage to property in hopes of making the criminal case disappear. He is due back in court on October 30th.
Magistrate Foldats has ordered a social inquiry report for the current matter before deciding on sentencing.
There has still been no updates on if the Acting Information Commissioner intends to take any disciplinary action against Martinson.
