(CMR) Two FBI agents were killed and three others injured while serving a federal search warrant in a child exploitation case in Sunrise, Florida, this morning.
The suspect, who had barricaded himself inside his home, also died during the standoff with the federal agents, AP reported.
Police reportedly swarmed the neighborhood outside Fort Lauderdale after 6 am following reports of the shootings.
FBI Miami Special Agent Michael D. Leverock told AP that two of the wounded agents were taken to hospitals to be treated and were in stable condition.
Leverock said the names of the deceased agents would not be released immediately. The suspect’s name was also not released.
The agents were serving a federal court-ordered search warrant related to a case of ‘violent crimes against children' when they were attacked.
After the shooting, two stretchers covered with American flags were taken into the Broward Medical Examiner's office, where officers formed an honor guard as the stretches were taken inside.
Several roads were closed, and residents were warned to avoid the area of the shooting.
