(CMR) A private philanthropist has contacted CMR to share that they are offering a $10,000 reward for the capture and conviction of the two men responsible for the vicious attack on two other men in the Strand parking lot last Monday night. The hate crime has shocked many in the community after details emerged about it.
They have joined forces with other concerned members of the community to offer this reward in hopes of assisting the police in making a swift arrest and securing a conviction in the matter. The group shared their concerns with CMR noting:
“This is an absolutely reprehensive hate crime that cannot go unpunished. We are sure that someone might have seen something the evening of the attack or since this assault took place. They can anonymously make contact with Crime Stoppers and provide the information for the authorities to progress the investigation. As a community we have to stand united against hate in any form against any group of individuals. It truly saddens us to know that in 2022 someone would think this behavior is somehow acceptable.”
The cash award will be made available if the person contacts Crime Stoppers and reports any relevant information that leads to the apprehension and successful conviction of the wanted men.
The serious incident have left local community activists calling on the government to implement specific legislation to address any hate crime as a serious elevated offense as many other jurisdictions have.
